By Tamba Lebbie (Son of the Soil)

Opposition heavyweight and staunch advocate for party unity, Finda Diana Konomanyi, brought her nationwide peace and reconciliation tour to a stirring conclusion on Saturday, 28 June, 2025 with a vibrant rally in her home district of Kono. The final stop in a months-long effort to heal internal rifts within the All People’s Congress (APC) ahead of the 2028 elections was marked by emotional speeches, calls for unity and a renewed sense of purpose among party loyalists.

Speaking to a packed crowd in Kono City, Finda Diana Konomanyi made an impassioned plea for forgiveness and solidarity, acknowledging past missteps within the APC that she said contributed to the party’s defeat in the 2023 elections. Switching fluidly between Krio and Kono, she struck a tone of humility and reconciliation. “We must rise above our differences,” she declared. “Only through unity can we rebuild our strength and win again in 2028.”

Finda Diana Konomanyi’s homecoming was celebrated by party faithful and community members alike. Former Resident Minister of the Eastern Region and Chairman of the Former Ministers of APC (FOMINA), Karamoh Kabba, praised her as “Kono’s audacity of hope,” describing her as both a visionary leader and a mother figure whose influence runs deep within the district.

The rally also provided a platform for Finda Diana Konomanyi to express heartfelt gratitude to APC supporters across the country, emphasizing that the party’s dedication to Kono’s development remains unwavering. “No other party has demonstrated the commitment we have to this district,” she said, urging supporters to stay focused on the APC’s broader vision for national progress.

Touching on one of Kono’s most pressing economic issues, Finda Diana Konomanyi addressed the controversy surrounding Koidu Holding, the mining company at the center of job losses and economic disruption in the district. She criticized the ongoing standoff and called for urgent dialogue between the company and the Government to restore livelihoods and bring relief to struggling families.

In a decisive message to fellow political leaders, Finda Diana Konomanyi urged an end to infighting and personal rivalry. She called on all stakeholders in Kono, regardless of faction or allegiance, to prioritize peace and unity for the sake of the district and the APC’s political future. Specifically, she appealed to Dr. Samura Kamara and his supporters, who continue to pursue electoral justice following the disputed 2023 elections, to move forward in solidarity. “The time has come to unite for victory,” she said. “The road ahead demands collective strength, not division.”

The atmosphere at the rally was one of renewed energy and commitment, as supporters responded with chants of support and pledges of loyalty to both the APC and Finda Diana Konomanyi’s leadership. Her words appeared to galvanize a base that has often been fractured by internal conflict, offering a clear path forward centered on forgiveness, cohesion and national purpose.

With the 2028 elections approaching, Diana Konomanyi’s peace tour may prove pivotal in restoring unity and momentum to the APC. Her closing rally in Kono sent a resounding message that the party, under strong and reflective leadership, is preparing to reclaim its footing and its future. https://thecalabashnewspaper.com/diana-konomanyi-wraps-up-nationwide-peace-tour-with-powerful-message-at-rally-in-kono/
